Tips to improve your language skills!

Hi everyone πŸ™‚ thank you for stopping by. Today I would like to share with you some tips that I have learned during the past years of language learning and that I’ve always found very useful πŸ™‚

Firstly, I find it very useful to watch movies and tv-shows in original language because it’s very effective to get a insight on the real spoken language. In most of the tv-shows, characters use a language that native speakers use on a daily-basis and this helps improving listening and speaking skills, since most of that language is not taught in classrooms.

Secondly, I always try to search for new songs and music in the language I want to learn/I’m learning. When you understand 60 to 70% of the song you are listening to, you are on the right track! Search for lyrics of the song you want and try to sing along.

Thirdly, read as much as you can, books, articles on the web, magazines and newspapers. Newspapers are important because journalists are the ones who usually tend to change the language, so you can see the development of the language.

Lastly, if you are not sure on how to say/write/pronounce something, do not hesitate to search the web or ask a native speaker, that’s the best way to know!

I hope you find this post useful πŸ™‚

I’ll talk to you soon!

  1. Using mass media as a way of learning a language is a great idea Lucrezia πŸ™‚ You get all the up-to-date terminology and can enjoy leaning, without even knowing that you’re learning! Two birds one stone πŸ™‚

  2. Do you have any suggestions for Italian music then?

Speak your mind!
